Karen Church practices at Mountain Springs Physical Therapy in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where she integrates Physical Therapy and Yoga. With over thirty years of experience as a private practice owner in Glenwood Springs, Karen brings a comprehensive, multi-paradigm approach to healing. Her manual therapy expertise includes joint and soft tissue mobilization, visceral manipulation, and neuromuscular re-education to support optimal alignment and efficient, mindful movement.
Whether recovering from an injury or training to enhance sports performance, Karen’s clients receive highly individualized self-care and home practice strategies tailored to their specific goals.
Educator & Collaborator An accomplished teacher, photographer, and the author of Therapeutic Yoga, Karen teaches Functional Yoga and Anatomy for Out Here Yoga’s Teacher Empowerment Program. She has presented extensively alongside nationally acclaimed instructor Desirée Rumbaugh; together, they recently brought the Wisdom Warriors trainings to the Steamboat Springs community.
Clinical Background & Education Karen’s clinical foundation is extensive. She became certified in Functional Manual Therapy™ in 2013 and has studied with the Barral Institute and Canadian physiotherapist Diane Lee’s Integrated Systems Model. Her yoga journey began in 1993 under the guidance of senior Iyengar Yoga teachers. She became an Affiliated Anusara Yoga Instructor in 2004 and is a dedicated student of Ayurveda and Visceral Manipulation, continuing her studies with Dr. Robert Svoboda and Gail Wetzler, DPT.
Recognized as a Notable Alumni, Karen graduated from the University of Toronto in 1989 with a B.Sc. in Physiotherapy. She also holds a B.A. in Physical and Health Education (minor in Sport Psychology) from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. While at Queen's, she was a member of the varsity rowing team and participated in an exchange program at Carnegie College in Leeds, England.
Life in Steamboat Karen is an outdoor enthusiast who lives the movement she teaches. An avid mountain biker and telemark skier, she has also become a passionate skate skier since moving to the Steamboat community.
