Karen Church practices at Mountain Springs Physical Therapy in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. She integrates Physical Therapy and Yoga, bringing thirty years of experience as a private practice owner in Glenwood Springs, CO. She enjoys blending multiple paradigms and offers manual therapy that includes joint and soft tissue mobilization, as well as visceral manipulation. Neuromuscular re-education supports optimal alignment and promotes efficient, mindful movement. Whether recovering from an injury or training to enhance sports performance, clients receive individualized self-care and home practice strategies.
Karen is a teacher, photographer and the author of Therapeutic Yoga. She teaches Functional Yoga and Anatomy for Out Here Yoga's Teacher Empowerment Program. She has presented extensively with nationally acclaimed yoga instructor Desirée Rumbaugh and together, they have recently offered Wisdom Warriors trainings in Steamboat Springs. An avid mountain biker and telemark skier, Karen has also become a passionate skate skier since moving to Steamboat.
Karen became certified in Functional Manual Therapy™ in 2013 and has studied extensively with the Barral Institute, as well as Canadian physiotherapist Diane Lee’s Integrated Systems Model. Her yoga journey began in 1993 with studies under numerous senior Iyengar Yoga teachers. In 2004, she became an Affiliated Anusara Yoga Instructor and later studied and collaborated with Desirée Rumbaugh. She is also passionate about Ayurveda and Visceral Manipulation and an avid student of Dr. Robert Svoboda and Gail Wetzler, DPT.
Recognized as Notable Allumni, Karen Church graduated from the University of Toronto in 1989 with a B.Sc. in Physiotherapy. She also holds a B.A. in Physical and Health Education with a minor in Sport Psychology from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. While at Queen’s, she was on the varsity rowing team and participated in an exchange program at Carnegie College in Leeds, England.
