Therapeutic Yoga offers an integrated blend of physical therapy, yoga and Ayurveda. I am currently teaching a workshop series at Out Here Yoga and will be offering the next 5-week series beginning in September.

During these trainings, we explore 10 Learning Modules. Each module highlights specific yoga poses or physical therapy exercises designed to enhance posture, daily function and sport-specific movement. To deepen your visual and kinesthetic learning, we will utilize meditation, anatomical imagery and hands-on adjustments. I provide screen evaluations to create individualized exercises that restore optimal postural muscle balance.

The Heart-Brain Connection: Neuroplasticity guidelines, the “grateful heart,” and intention coupled with movement.

Standing Tadasana: Stacking the blocks, the trunk cylinder, and the plumb line for a resilient posture.

The Short Foot: Understanding the “Foot Core,” what it means to “root down,” and “hug toward the midline.”

Loops and Spirals: Principles of Alignment adapted from Anusara Yoga™.

Mobility of the Myofascial System: I provide screen evaluations to create individualized exercises that restore optimal postural muscle balance

The Core of the Pose: Core concepts and activating the deep “core” of the trunk, lower and upper quadrants.

Nervous System Regulation: The Autonomic Nervous System and the Vagus Nerve, Sitting with greater ease, Ayurvedic Strategies and Meditation.

The Rise and Fall of the Breath: Yoga Breathing, Heart Rate Variability and the Diaphragms.

Visceral Mobility: Utilizing twists and forward bends to calm the nervous system.

Home Practice Template: Creating a personalized practice that integrates neuroplasticity, mobility, core strength, and balance. Whether you are training for longevity, bone health, or Nordic skiing—what is your sadhana?

What Participants are Saying:

“The Integration of PT and Yoga is exactly what I have been looking for.  While overall healthy, I am experiencing more frequent pain issues and like to understand what is going on with my body while working with professionals. ” Bonnie, Participant from Wisdom Warriors.

“Karen’s workshops are incredibly beneficial, and when I attend them I am amazed at how she customizes the presentation to the specific needs of each of those in attendance, adding slides and amazing photography so one can see exactly what she is explaining. With her integrated approach, she provides clients with immediate relief, as well as the ability to refer her book (which makes a great gift), and her website, to round out the therapy and provide tools for home care.  Karen’s healing hands and intelligent approach to yoga and wellness, are gifts that keep me going strong!  Thank you, Karen!” -Maurine Taufer, Director for Dance at the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts.
